Practice Lead – Setting the standard in Commercial & Sales Transformations projects
Practice Lead – Setting the standard in Commercial & Sales Transformations projects
For our client, a boutique consultancy holding a strong international B2B client portfolio, we are looking for a Practice Lead to build and head a new practice within Commercial & Sales Transformations, and with a clear path towards partnership.
Our client has established a strong position within their area of expertise through a combination of deep specialist expertise, data-driven methodologies and long-standing client relationships, and they want to utilise and support a larger part of their clients’ commercial value chain. The ambition is to build a distinct practice that complements the existing service offerings and targets existing and new clients.
This role represents a unique opportunity for an experienced advisor and management consultant, who wants to combine client advisory, business development, thought leadership and best practice in an entrepreneurial setting, but in an established business setting. The role offers a defined path towards becoming an equity partner within a short period of time.
The role
As Practice Lead, you will take the lead in shaping, developing and commercialising the consultancy's offerings within Commercial & Sales Transformation projects, where you will bring senior expertise across the commercial agenda and act as a trusted advisor to C-level executives and decision-makers. Depending on clients’ needs, your focus areas may include commercial strategies, segmentation, pricing, channel strategies, go-to-market strategies, pipeline management and forecasting, sales capabilities, value proposition development and product and lifecycle management.
The role is broader than delivering consulting projects. You will be expected to build a practice including developing methodologies, frameworks and tools, creating market-facing propositions and thought leadership, identifying and converting commercial opportunities and establishing long-term relationships with clients.
You will work closely with the existing leadership team and experienced consultants while taking significant ownership of your own area. The organisation is lean and highly collaborative, meaning seniority does not create distance from execution. Everyone contributes actively to clients, business development and the continued development of the company.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Practice building: Establish and develop the Commercial & Sales Transformation practice, including its propositions, methodologies, playbooks and tools.
Business development: Build and maintain senior client relationships, identify opportunities and win new engagements among both existing and new clients.
Senior advisory: Advise C-level executives and commercial leaders on complex sales and commercial transformation agendas.
Client delivery: Lead and contribute hands-on to transformation projects, translating strategic ambitions into concrete commercial initiatives and measurable results.
Thought leadership: Strengthen the consultancy's external position within Commercial & Sales Transformation through insights, methodologies, cases and market activities.
Capability building: Develop and share knowledge internally and support colleagues and clients in applying new commercial approaches, processes and tools.
Leadership: Contribute actively to the development of the consultancy, its strategy and operations as part of the extended leadership team.
Your background
We are looking for an experienced commercial advisor with a broad understanding of what drives successful sales and commercial transformations.
You may currently be a Partner, Principal, Director or Practice Lead in a consultancy firm or work in the industry as a senior Commercial Transformation Leader. Your background could be from management consulting or in a combination with experience from the industry within complex international organisations.
More important than a particular title or career path is your ability to connect commercial strategy with execution and transformation. You have likely worked across several areas of Commercial Excellence, such as sales transformations, go-to-market, segmentation, pricing, sales effectiveness, commercial operating models, pipeline management and value proposition development. You understand how these disciplines link, and how they can be translated into meaningful business results.
Importantly, you are also a strong commercial profile yourself enjoying developing client relationships, identifying opportunities and turning expertise into business. You hold credibility with senior executives and are comfortable using and further developing your own professional network.
You are likely to bring:
Significant experience within Commercial Excellence, Sales Excellence and/or Commercial & Sales Transformation.
Experience from advising senior executives on complex commercial challenges.
A track record of leading commercial transformation initiatives from strategy through implementation.
Strong business development capabilities and experience building senior client relationships.
An ability to develop propositions, methodologies and intellectual capital.
Experience from international B2B environments.
Strong communication and presentation skills in Danish and English.
An entrepreneurial opportunity with a path to partnership
This is not a role for someone looking for a large organisation, extensive support functions or a narrowly defined leadership position. It is an opportunity for someone who wants to build something.
You will join a successful, boutique and specialist consultancy with an established client base, strong methodologies and ambitions for further international growth. The consultancy combines a professional consulting environment with an informal, non-hierarchical culture, where trust, professional judgement and shared responsibility matter more than titles.
The role offers considerable autonomy and the opportunity to put your own mark on an important new area of the business while benefiting from the consultancy's existing relationships, reputation and capabilities.
The role is based in Copenhagen and involves working with clients both in Denmark and internationally, and with a clear work-life balance and flexibility.
