Chief Accountant to Retriever Denmark (former Infomedia) - Copenhagen

You will report to the Nordic CFO in Stockholm and become part of the Nordic finance management team collaborating closely with your peers across different business disciplines, and externally with Auditors and public authorities. You will work out of the Danish office in central Copenhagen, together with around 120 colleagues, and 350 in total across the Nordics.
The Job
As Chief Accountant, you will spearhead accounting, compliance and financial controlling and lead three team members delivering accounting, reconciliations, cash flow reporting, controlling and compliance. Next to these daily tasks, you will head initiatives centred on developing and optimising processes such as creating quarterly reporting, defining and maintaining a baseline for accounting processes, and building necessary skills.
Retriever is a result of a merger between Infomedia and Retriever in 2024, which was effectuated in 2025, and which has led to a rebuilding of Finance. You will join the organisation at a time with room to influence the future financial setup, processes and best practices – not only locally, but across the Nordics, and in Group Finance. The job will require your flexibility as well as structure in delivering following tasks:
· Drive continuous improvements of end-to-end accounting practices.
· Financial reporting and closings, preparing accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
· Prepare and post monthly accruals, prepayments and similar accounting entries.
· Continually identify risks to delivery, propose solutions where necessary and effectively manage stakeholder expectations (compliance).
· Regulatory compliance, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and IFRS standards.
· Cash flow and variance analyses, tracking performance against budgets and analysing key financial metrics.
· Payroll controlling and approvals.
· Internal controls, developing and maintaining internal control systems to safeguard assets and ensure audit readiness.
· Team leadership, managing the accounting team in Denmark, and mapping and developing their capabilities.
· Ad hoc support to the Danish management team.
The Profile
You are a people manager with strong interest in leading, motivating and developing your team, and as leader, you prioritise communication and information. It is important for you to establish a “safe” environment by prioritising tasks and resolving challenges in a fast and smooth manner. You are proactive, robust and flexible, with the ability to create structure and processes from scratch.
Towards your stakeholders, you are proactive, attentive and deliver with precision. Your key characteristics include having structure, overview, and an excellent ability to prioritise and delegate. Furthermore, you have experience and motivation for system and process optimisation.
Besides your strong personal skills, your professional experience includes following:
· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, auditing, finance or alike and with ten years or more of working experience in accounting and auditing incl. AP/AR.
· Preferably, you have a background from auditing as well as from the industry.
· Experience in leading a finance team.
· Strong technical accounting knowledge of IFRS and Danish GAAP.
· Experience from working with capital management, budgeting and cash flow forecast reporting.
· Fluent in Danish and strong in English (spoken and in writing).
· Experience and motivation for system and process optimisation, strong skills in MS Office, and especially Excel and PP, and experience from working with an ERP system, preferably Business Central.
