Director, Global Planning to Ambu – Denmark, Ballerup
With growth accelerating across markets, Ambu is currently strengthening global supply chain by looking for a strategic and visionary Director, Global Planning to lead the development of a best-in-class Global Planning function.
The role comes at a pivotal time in Ambu’s transformation journey and is closely aligned with the company’s Zoom Ahead strategy, which sharpens the focus on innovation, operational excellence, and getting closer to customers across all markets. As Ambu scales Operations, doubles output, and strengthens a resilient, data-driven supply chain, this position plays a key part in enabling that ambition.
With a clear growth agenda, Ambu is taking the next decisive step toward building a robust and future-proof Global Planning organisation. This organisation will not only support the company’s ambitious expansion but also enhance customer proximity, responsiveness, and service excellence – ensuring operational performance that directly translates into greater customer value worldwide.
The Director, Global Planning will report directly to the VP of Global Supply Chain and play an integral role in Ambu’s Global Supply Chain leadership team. The position leads a team of more than 10 professionals responsible for demand and supply planning as well as the global S&OP process. The team is based at Ambu’s headquarters in Ballerup, which is also the primary location of this role.
Furthermore, the Director will foster strong collaboration and alignment with local supply chain organisations across four manufacturing sites, as well as build close partnerships with colleagues in Sales and Marketing. This cross-functional engagement will ensure seamless integration between planning, commercial priorities, and operational execution, enabling end-to-end performance and delivering value to customers.
Global Planning
The Global Planning function plays a central role in driving transparency, efficiency and operational excellence across Ambu’s global supply chain, covering four manufacturing sites (US, Mexico, China, Malaysia) and multiple regional markets (US, EMEA & APAC). Acting as a key integrator across functions and regions, Global Planning ensures stability, scalability and customer responsiveness in a complex global setup.
An executive planning role, with global outlook, a strong mandate and high ambitions
With a strong mandate to drive transparency, alignment, efficiencies, and cross-functional integration, the Director will build a future-fit planning organisation. The Director will lead and develop a Global Planning team and take full ownership of global end-to-end supply and demand planning, inventory optimisation, and scenario planning across regions — ensuring strong alignment between commercial priorities, operations capabilities, and strategic growth ambitions.
In parallel, the Director will elevate and mature the current S&OP processes into a truly integrated, forward-looking business planning model. The ambition is to strengthen supply security, scalability, global agility, and responsiveness to market changes, while creating one unified view across the value chain, enabling proactive decision-making and alignment. This includes enabling the organisation to anticipate risks and turn market volatility — including geopolitical uncertainty — into informed strategic choices.
There will be several key attention areas, and where some of these are:
Leveraging scenario planning to provide recommendations that ensure scalability, flexibility, and risk mitigation in an increasingly complex global environment.
Working closely with the Product Launch team to plan and manage product introductions and phase-outs, considering different cannibalisation scenarios and ensuring smooth transitions across the portfolio.
Guiding on optimal product mix decisions, balancing revenue, gross margin, and EBIT, while ensuring the organisation maintains the right flexibility to successfully launch and scale new products.
Recommending and defining differentiated supply chain approaches to support Ambu’s Zoom Ahead strategy, ensuring the right balance of service levels and responsiveness to customers across markets.
A seasoned transformative supply chain and planning executive
To succeed, the Director brings a strategic mindset, excellent communication skills, and solid experience from global planning in an international manufacturing setup. The Director shows a distinct understanding of the complexity entailed in operating a global supply chain with multiple production sites and local sales offices and can balance the need for central control with local flexibility.
The Director is an experienced people leader, who knows how to build, guide, and develop high-performing teams, and leads with clarity and direction creating structure while fostering engagement and ownership and is characterised by being collaborative and inclusive. The Director relates and interacts with ease, managing stakeholders across levels, internally and externally.
